Summer Event – KnysnaX Trail Run

Registration: 06h00 Sunday morning – 24km and 18km at Astron Waterfront and 06h45 for the 6km fun run at Blackwaters River Lodge

Trail Running at its best. Spectacular routes for the KnysnaX Trail Series, once again partnering with host venue, Blackwaters River Lodge and Black Loerie Restaurant. The new circular and scenic 6km fun run route has something in store for all walkers, hikers and runners PLEASE NOTE: No water point on the 6 KM route! Parking for the 6 km will be available at Blackwaters River Lodge. 6km starts at 07h45.

The 18 & 24 km races start at Astron (formerly Caltex), Waterfront Drive Knysna. Both races start at 07h00 and finish at Blackwaters River Lodge.
Parking will be available behind Astron and a one way shuttle service will be available from Blackwaters River Lodge back to Astron after the race. First Shuttle back to Knysna Astron will leave at 10h30 on Sunday Race day. Shuttle tickets available at Registration & Finish at R 40 each.

The 18/24km routes include spectacular bridge crossings and breathtaking scenery along the Knysna historic Railway with both heading across the lagoon, past Belvidere into the Western Heads Conservancy. (Please note that the section across the lagoon is a neutral zone and no running/ passing will be allowed on this section)

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO WATER POINTS ON THE 6 KM ROUTE! THE 18 & 24 KM ROUTES HAVE 2 WATERPOINTS THAT ARE RE-FILL STATIONS. PLEASE HAVE YOUR OWN CUP OR HYDRATION VEST

The Western Heads-Goukamma Conservancy’s purpose is to promote the protection of important indigenous ecosystems, species, archaeological and palaeontological sites, landscapes and geological features.

Rules and Regulations

– No refunds
– No substitutions, upgrades, downgrades will be allowed
– No need to wear Club Clothing

– Positive proof of ID must be shown in order to collect your race pack, NO THIRD PARTY PICK UPS ALLOWED.
– Only the event race number will be worn on the front of the vest
– This event is a waste free event. No plastic allowed on the route. No cups will be served on the route. Runners must wear their own backpacks to carry water. Waterpoints will have Water to refill backpacks.
– NO LITTERING PLEASE
– Do not run on the Golf Course greens, fairways or any parts not marked by the route director. Always follow route markers and marshal instructions.
– No swimming in the ocean or lagoon on the route
– Immediate disqualification if a runner:
*tampers with route markings
* is caught littering
* damages the trail or any vegetation
* disobey marshals

– Medical, Rescue, Marshal’s, and organizers decisions is final.
– Closing date for entries is as soon as entry cap have been reached for each race.
– Start chutes closes 5mins before race start. Arrivals after this time will not be allowed to start.

– Minimum age for entering is 14 for the Lite, 15 for the Full and 18 for Pro

– The runner arriving before you at a technical section determines the pace. Do not hassle or crowd a runner while an obstacle is being negotiated.
– The trail is designed with ample overtaking opportunities before and after obstacles. Do not “race” the technical sections.
– Remain in the order of arriving at obstacles as some queuing will be needed at certain obstacles.
– Waterpoints will have water. Runners are advised to carry backpacks with water. NO LITTERING
– This is a pre entry event
– No Smoking or carrying of lighters anywhere from you leave the start point
– Spectators are requested to remain at the Start/ Finish area.
– Start and finish venue is at Caltex Waterfront and Blackwaters River Lodge
– Cutoff time for the 6 km is 2h30min.
– Cutoff time for the 18km is 3hrs30min.
– You must be present at Prize giving to be in contention for Lucky draw prizes. All podium finishers must be at the prize giving to receive prizes. No prize money on amy of the distances.
